On February 25th, 2021, Expedia Group, global leader in online travel bookings, partnered with HR consultancy, Your People’s Associates, to deliver the industry’s top team engagement activities as part of a webinar series covering wellness strategies for the remote workforce. Together, the duo virtually hosted ‘Ping Pong Fight Club’s Lockdown Challenge Show’, with the aim of making in improvements in employees’ mental health and activity levels.
Founded in 2014 by Adrian Leigh, ‘Ping Pong Fight Club’ is an annual inter-company ping pong tournament and party for tech start-ups. Before lockdown, the event expanded to eight major cities across the UK, attracting the attention of 16 companies, including Expedia, Facebook and Spotify.
To mitigate the impact of the pandemic on employees’ wellbeing and activity levels, ‘Ping Pong Fight Club’ created the ‘Lockdown Challenge Show’. Hosted on Zoom, the show features 45 minutes of entertaining ping pong challenges, trivia rounds, as well as a young-in-cheek game show where employees connect and compete against their friends and work colleagues remotely.
