Dean Sadler, CEO at Tribepad, shares how their team are supporting employees through another national lockdown

This national lockdown is different to the others, and will most likely be the hardest yet as it falls in the darkest days of winter.

With many of us cooped up inside battling isolation, employers need to be doing all they can to ensure that they are supporting their employees mental wellbeing to the best of their ability. For example, offering regular one to ones with team members, online support groups, and offering the necessary time off work for those who may be struggling.

At Tribepad all of our managers are attending mental health first aid courses so that they can be quick to spot the signs of those struggling.

What’s more, the recent news of school closures means parents are having to juggle home-schooling with work. Employers must show compassion and accommodate their changing needs. Within our company, we are ensuring that we are not overloading these individuals with work, and prioritising tasks that may be best suited to another team member. It’s all about being supportive and understanding that the working day may be fluid and that flexibility is critical.

Many businesses have already survived a lockdown, and they can very well do so again. The country is far more prepared this time round. However, one thing that we have learnt in recent weeks is that lockdown rules can change instantly, therefore while employers should be focusing on the now, they should also prepare for another possible lockdown and perhaps extend their plans for all employees to remain at home to ensure their safety.
