Leading North-West health and social care provider Alternative Futures Group (AFG) has announced that it is investing in its people to increase pay for frontline staff up to £10 per hour for all support workers, as well as increasing pay for all other colleagues.

With current pressures on the UK economy, cost of living and household bills, the AFG Board and Executive Team feel it is important that its workforce feel valued and supported at this time and receive a fair day’s pay to reflect the fantastic life-changing and skilled work they do.

AFG Chief Executive, Ian Pritchard said: ‘I am delighted to share this positive news about our workforce. This is the largest investment in pay, in any one year, in the history of the charity. I can’t express enough how much I value each and every colleague and the fantastic work they do. The total cost of the pay increase will be met by £2.75million from AFG charitable reserves. We feel that this is both necessary and appropriate given the workforce challenges for AFG and the wider health & social care sector.’

Whilst AFG is investing in its people, it comes at a cost. AFG continues to call on the Government and Local Authorities, to play their part and increase funding to providers to enable them to continue paying appropriate, competitive wages to staff now and in the future by fully covering Real Living Wage pay costs.

AFG will continue to lobby and campaign for better pay, as it is the aim of the charity’s Board and Executive Team to provide the very best pay for its amazing workforce.
