Remote workers miss out on so much – from water-cooler chats to perks like free coffee – but this year remote-working employees don’t have to miss out on the Christmas vibe.

When you work in a physical office, part of the fun of getting in the mood for Christmas is seeing the office decked out in its Christmas finery. Now, with virtual workplace platform Yonderdesk, you definitely don’t need to miss out.
Each user of Yonderdesk has his/her own private office that can be seen on a floor plan of the whole virtual building – and it is right here that they can welcome colleagues and visitors into their room for meetings and chats.
As these offices can be redecorated as often as employees like, all they have to do is find an image to upload and get busy with Canva/Photoshop to design their own fun Christmas office. Yonderdesk’s own team – dispersed across Europe and Asia – are currently working on their own virtual Christmas offices, ready for their very own virtual ‘big switch on’ on December 1.
One of Yonderdesk’s key aims is to help remote workers stay connected to each other and their in-office colleagues in order to reduce feelings of isolation, and director Ben Wainwright says that little things like personalised office spaces can help. “Engagement comes in many forms, and giving employees the chance to share things with colleagues is a great thing to be able to do,” he says.
