A leading global essential oils company has been praised for creating a happy and caring workplace following a wellbeing survey carried out by The Creative Mental Health Charity PoetsIN.

dōTERRA commissioned a third party to assess employee satisfaction among its UK and German teams to gain a better understanding of how it could support its employees’ wellbeing with PoetsIN overseeing transparent communication in confidence and advising on areas for improvement.

According to the results of the audit spanning over 100 employees, 99 per cent said they would recommend the organisation as an employer. dōTERRA was also praised for the way it responded to the feedback.

Claire Waples, HR manager at dōTERRA, said: “The stigma around mental health can prevent people being truly open. As an organisation in the health and wellness industry, dōTERRA prides itself on paving the way when it comes to employee mental health and wellbeing.”

In addition to gauging employee sentiment, the audit invited discussion on mental health from more than 100 employees in dōTERRA’s London and Germany offices.

Waples said: “By practising what we preach and seeking an external organisation to provide an audit of our European teams, we have been able to gain a true snapshot of our employees’ needs relating to mental health.”

Following a wellbeing workshop, which PoetsIN carried out for dōTERRA earlier this year, the move reinforces the organisation’s commitment to employee satisfaction.

Sammie Adams, co-founder of PoetsIN, said: “We spend more waking hours in work than we do outside of it, and we know that employers who invest in the mental health and wellbeing of their team see greater productivity and overall wellness within their organisation.

“dōTERRA has taken a caring approach to supporting its team, demonstrated first by the audit request, and secondly in the way in which they are responding to the feedback.”

With help from organisations such as PoetsIN, dōTERRA aims to help its employees and the health and wellness industry in general to understand why the discussion around mental health is important, and help to reduce avoidable absenteeism.

The Wellbeing in the Workplace audit is one of several services being offered by PoetsIN tailored specifically to employee satisfaction and wellbeing.
